UV-visible spectrophotometric method for simultaneous estimation of glibenclamide and metformin

Novel method for simultaneous estimation of Glibenclamide (GLB) and Metformin (MET) was developed using methanol as solvent. Methanol does not interfere in the spectroscopic determination of GLB andMET and shownmaximumabsorbance at 228 nmand 237 nmrespectively. GLB and MET follows Beer-LambertÂ’s law in range of 0.2-1.2 µg/mL and 50-300 µg/ mL respectively. LOD and LOQ values of GLB andMET were found to be 0.10 and 0.41 µg/mL and 0.34 and 1.35 µg/mL respectively. The proposed method is can be used for routine analysis since it is rapid, simple, accurate, precise, sensitive and specific.
