Gastric ulcer is a very common gastrointestinal disorder affecting a large number of people worldwide. It arises due to an imbalance between aggressive (acid, pepsin and Helicobacter pylori infection) and protective (mucin secretion, prostaglandin, epidermal growth factors and bicarbonate) factors in the stomach.
