Titanate nanotubes films were synthesized on a titaniummetal piece by hydrothermal treatment in NaOH (aq.). The effect of post treatments on microstructure, shape and morphology of the film was investigated. A potential photocatalytic application of the titanate nanotubes films was also carried out using the photo oxidation of a dye, amaranth, as probe reaction. The as-prepared nanotubes films, with or without sodium contents, showed different photocatalytic activities. The nanotubes filmswith sodiumcontents showed weak photocatalytic activity and the photocatalytic activity of nanotubes films without sodium ions was drastically increased with increasing calcination temperature. Different photocatalytic activities of these films are attributed to sodiumelement, crystalline structure and crystallinity changes of titanate nanotubes.
