Abhilash M, Makari HK and Uma Maheshwari S
To study the occurrence of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) in cases with urinary tract infections a total of 124 cases from urinary tract infections were selected. The colonies identified as Escherichia coli were screened for virulence factors namely haemolysin, Cell surface hydrophobicity and Mannose Resistant and Mannose Sensitive Haemagglutination (MRHA,MSHA).Among124 cases 53 (42.74%) were haemolytic, 20(32.25%) showed MRHA and 34 (27.41%) showed cell surface hydrophobicity positive. Out of 124 urinary isolates, 107 could be labelled asUPEC.
